In September when we were in British Columbia, one of the highlights was spending 3 days in the Pacific Rim National Park on Vancouver Island. If you only take one trip in your entire life, visit here.
The natural beauty is breath-taking and much of it is still unspoiled.
Many people come here to visit and end up staying forever. Once you visit, you'll see why.
Here are some photos from our stop at Long Beach.
A tributary runs over the beach and to the ocean from the forest backdrop.
Giant kelp washed up on shore like some strange creature from the black lagoon.
Surfers wait for the perfect wave at Long Beach in late September. The Pacific Ocean is pretty cold this time of year so they wear full body suits.
Logs washed up on shore at Long Beach.
Long Beach in Pacific Rim National Park is the longest natural beach on Vancouver Island.

Jo - does anyone harvest the logs from the beach ... I see enough wood there for several homes ... ps the beach is beautiful it remindes me of the white shell beaches of Sanibel Island in Florida Dec 28, 2009 01:42 AM

Hi Kathy, It's part of the Pacific Rim National Park, so I don't believe anyone is allowed to harvest the logs as there are signs up saying not to remove anything from the park. There certainly is a lot of wood! Dec 28, 2009 03:00 AM

The combination of the gorgeous sandy beach with the backdrop of the tall mature trees is stunning. I've never been anyplace like it. Dec 28, 2009 09:29 PM
