I'll bite. Is there something wrong with my connection or did they stop showing the pictures on the right side of the groups? You know the ones that show who's visiting? I for one miss those. It some how made it more personal to know you were there at the same time as a friend you have made here at Active Rain.
Is it just me or does anyone else miss those contact pictures? Can some one tell me why the gods decided to do away with them?
I noticed it but didn't realize that it was a change that AR made. I thought the people changed their settings themselves so that they wouldn't appear.
Maybe it's an attempt to make the site run more efficiently (i.e. fewer items for the page to load).
Mine are still there on my blog. I just checked.
There was a major discussion about this on AR, because some folks are upset with them being on blogs because they think that it's an invasion of privacy for someone to know that they've visited a blog, or that the blog owner will be upset with them for visiting and not commenting, which he or she couldn't tell without those. And they just wouldn't go to blogs that had them, so there. And so anyone who wanted traffic on their blog best get rid of them. (Shades of middle school come to mind, frankly.) My opinion is that if someone gets all upset because someone visited their blog and didn't comment, they really need to get a life and figure out that, no matter what they think, It Isn't Really all About Them and they aren't owed comments. They'll probably be happier if they accept that.
So what you're likely seeing is the result of that dust-up, people buying into this and removing them. Too bad, really.
Never mind. Just realized you were talking about something different and, yes, that's gone. Don't know why - maybe to do with the above discussion, maybe not. Wonder if it's mentioned on the AR blog? I've been too busy to read that in detali lately.

Haave you seen them on the groups? THat's where they are missing. I wonder why. Why wouldn't anyone what to be seen in a group? Weird.

I just got word from the AR gods. They have changed their format and may or may not bring back the pictures. I say deluge them with emails to bring them back.....

That was my intention but it doesn't seem like I'm getting much support. We'll just have to see.
