Hawaiian Inn is a popular Daytona Beach Shores condo-hotel. Considered to be family friendly resort, it is maybe the only resort in the area where families are coming year after year.
Not surprising considering its 400' on the ocean, great pool area.
Built in 1965 as a 4-story building, they later added another floor in 1974.
It's horseshoe layout allows for the overwhelming majority of units being direct oceanfront. However, age was taking its toll and they had no choice but to start the concrete restoration, which could not come at a worse time.
The north wing(you see it in the photo) has been completed. The work is now on the south wing. They are planning to wrap it up before the busiest time comes with the speedweek and bikeweek. No work will be done until the second half of August, when the season slows down. That;s when the middle part of the building will start the concrete restoration.
It involves replacing the balconies, and the sliding doors on the ocean front. Expensive and time consuming, but absolutely needed work.
Not surprising that owners are tired of paying the Special Assessments, and the prices are absolutely unbelievable. Enough to say that direct oceanfront unit in the completed part of the building is only $35,000.
Patience is the most important thing for the owners right now, If you have been able to keep up with assessment, do not dump the units now, they will dramatically increase in value very soon.
