New Jersey REALTOR Continuing Education Now Law!

By
Real Estate Agent with Keller Williams Realty - Atlantic Shore

Good news for New Jersey home buyers and sellers!  Governor Corzine has signed into law legisltion that requires up to 16 hours of continuing education for New Jersey REALTORS.

It won't be long now before New Jersey's new Governor, Chris Cristie, is sworn in.  But the New Jersey Association of REALTORS (NJAR) just reported via Twitter, that Governor Corzine has signed the continuing education bill.

The continuing education courses are not contained in the new law.  An advisory committee will be appointed to decide what will and will not qualify for continuing ed credit.

More on the new law is available here.

Good job New Jersey REALTORS...Good job NJAR!

Laura, We in New Hampshire have to submit 4- 3 hour courses, one is a core course and 3 are electives every two years to renew or state approved license (and once every other renewal...one has to be an approved 3 hour ethics course). These set up seams to work pretty well for our Real Estate Commission.

Welcome to the rest of the Real Estate world.  We have 15 hours per year.  It needs to be more, and more to get a license.

Hi Laura,

I'm glad to see it's finally happened.  As an EMT, I need to do 48 hours every 3 years for NJ re-certification, but usually end up with far more. There is always something new learned, old reinforced, or both. The classes are good for camaraderie too...

Thanks for keeping us up to speed on this.

Bruce

It is a good idea, we need to stay informed, education in any form is important.
