Located on Highway 72, East (also known as Hull Road) this new addition to ice cream in Athens, GA features homemade ice cream that is slow churned by the turning water wheel outside! The peach ice cream with fresh fruit is fantastic and several of our kids have gone back for more Peanut Butter milk shakes. The Water Wheel also serves specials that features hot dogs, chili dogs, homemade cole slaw, and baked beans.
The day we visited, they were extremely busy and trying to get organized, but everyone had a smile on their face! This should also prove to be a favorite destination for residents of Madison County, GA also due to its convenient location!
The Marble Slab Creamery located on Lumpkin Street in Five Points is a favorite with UGA students and locals! Marble Slab Creamery features made fresh daily, homemade ice cream and freshly baked in the store waffle cones. With a wide selection of flavors (my favorite is Mango) and mix-ins the choices are unlimited! The Five Points location in Athens, GA also offers dog biscuits for man's best friend and some outdoor seating!
Ben & Jerry's on College Avenue in downtown Athens, GA has my alltime favorite Cherry Garcia, most of the time (flavors vary by season) and they create fabulous ice cream cakes! They also feature "sundaes, shakes, fresh fruit smoothies & toute-frooozen coolers".
