Old Man Winter Is Getting Ready To Give Charlotte A Visit

By
Real Estate Broker/Owner with Homes By Cross, Inc.

Charlotte Snowman

Charlotte is Blessed with fine temperate weather. But every now and then we get a taste of what our northern neighbors endure. And from all reports, it's headed our way.

We get snow a couple times each winter.

The last snow we had last year  was a dusting and the schools
called off classes. If we get any significant snow, the area pretty much shuts down temporarily.

We have some snow equipment and brine sprayers, but not enough to handle a significant snow.

What is funny here, is that when the news gets out that a snow is
imminent, there is a mad dash to the grocery store to stock-up on basic
staples.

The buzz is fun to watch. People dashing about in a mini panic mode.

The most fun is watching the children in our neighborhood
practically dancing in anticipation of playing in the snow and hoping
to build a snowman.

Fortunately when we get a significant snow event, It lasts a very short time and a few days later it's completely gone.

So bring it on old man winter. I'm stocked up with staples and ready to admire your work ...and glad you are just driving through.

Wait a minute...What about my showing appointment on Sunday? Hmmmm

Old Man Winter doesn't get down to Southwest Florida much.

LLoyd - He was there in early January, but you are right...he skips most of SW FL. I wish I had my toes in the sand right now, on a sunny beach with a cool drink. I have to settle for frosty for now.

Hi Claude!  Enjoy it while you have it, cherish it for memories to talk about in times to come.  You are a good writer!

Diane - Maybe a story teller, but I am humble as a writer as I read your prose. Thanks and I will continue to read your well written posts as well.

Claude, I hope the kids in your area do get to enjoy some snow for a change. Here in NJ, we are in a deep freeze right now.

Claude, we are pretty much guaranteed NOT to get a "sled-able" snow because 5 years ago, I bought my then-eight year old son a killer cool sled.  He has not used it once!!!  Doggone it, Mother Nature, let them sled!!!

Thanks for a great post!

Melissa - I remember the big snow. Areas norrth of Charlotte are getting enough for sledding. Hopefully your flexable flyer can be put to use. Enjoy the day

Jane - Will do and the fireplace is doing it's job too. As for Jane, maybe a chance for a little snuggle. ;)

Claude,

I'm an ex-Albertan. I'm used to minus 35C and snow for 6 months. You wooses from the banana belt. Ha.

JL - Deep Freeze tonight will bring the black ice for tomorrow am. Who knew Charlotte could get into the low teens?

Terry - I would say that Minus 30C is painful. We are not exactly in the bananna belt here in Charlotte. But I guess to those who live on the frozen tundra, we sound a little weak.
