Hitwise just released their February 2010 real estate report showing the traffic on the top 20 real estate sites. Zillow is #2 behind Realtor.com.
Perhaps even more interesting, check out the second image below which shows real estate search terms and note Zillow in the #2 and #5 spot. Zillow gets most of our traffic from direct type-in or from Zillow-branded SEO, and this chart helps demonstrate that. Why is that relevant to you as an agent or broker? Because we don't just have traffic as ar result of you putting your listings onto Zillow. We bring our own traffic to the party rather than just coming between Google and your website (like many other listings sites). As the CEO of one huge brokerage once told me while describing another website: "We hate companies that show up to the pot luck with nothing but a fork." Well Zillow brings something to the pot luck -- a lot of visitors (9 million in January 2010 according to our internal Omniture numbers) -- which aren't solely the result of agents and brokerages giving us their listings.
