Consumer Reports tells us that dollar stores are growing in popularity as the economy has people looking for values wherever they can find them. And nothing says "value" more than "it's only $1", right? Did you know they even have food? (milk, eggs, hot pockets, you name it)
According a study by the Nielsen Company, dollar store spending among high and middle income shoppers increased significantly in 2008. Everyone knows the Dollar Store is cheaper than most places. Yet, Walmart seems to be the go to place to save money.
My daughter, who works for mere pennies at a movie theater in North Carolina, called me shocked at how little she spent at the Dollar Store. Anyone would tell you that that is a no brainer right? but what exactly did she buy?
Shampoo, Conditioner, Razors, Tfemminum products, Dish Detergent, Dish soap, Hair Spray, Cereal and Sugar,
How much did she spend? $20.00!!!
How Much at Walmart? (cheapest prices per item) $35+
Sooooo, lets say at 40ish, it makes you think - huh?
