A Florida Statute requires insurance companies to offer Florida homeowners "discounts, credits, or other rate differentials.." for construction techniques that reduce damage and loss in windstorms. Usually the discounts range anywhere between 15%-75% off the windstorm portion of a Homeowner's Insurance Policy, each company is different, so check with your provider to see the specifics on your policy.

Some of the building features that are checked during the inspection and that can reduce your premiums include: Roof Deck Attachments, Secondary Water Resistance, Roof Coverings, Doors, Protection of Openings, Roof-to-Wall Connections, Roof Shape and Bracing of Gable End
