Personal Property: Should It Stay or Should It Go?

I have a Seller I represent that is trying to decide whether or not to take their children's playset to their new home. This playset is a few years old, made from treated lumber with a slide and swings, and a little tired, but to replace it would be hundreds of dollars. The wife says leave it behind and buy new at the new home, the husband says "we can load 'er up and take it to the new home and save the money" (spoken like a man, eh?). Anyway, let me throw this out there for comment, what is the most common action Seller's take in this situation? One more piece of information that is important to your comment, they still have young children, as young as 1 year old, and plan on having one more. I appreciate your feedback.

I guess it really is personal preference. Have a seller right now in a perdicament with a HUGE couch that had to be delivered via crane and placed in the loft by skylight. They are trying to get the buyer to purchase the couch from them! Buyer said they can take it or leave it, but he is not purchasing it! Rent a crane to get it out? I think not. Leave it!

Well it is my experiene that taking down those swing sets are a lot more money than they are worth..maybe make it negotiable...and if it is something buyer wants leave it..if not take it!!

Craig,

Don't forget their is an entire family moving here, not just the parents.  As a child a new home is great, but can be very overwhelming.  That swing set is more than just a swing set to the kids.  It's familiar and "fun".

In a new place, with so much change, it's not a bad idea to bring that old swing set along, it provides a sense of stability and represents past memories.  Its more than a pain to move, but worth that move to those kids.
