Augusta Ronald McDonald House

Hurray to the Augusta community for giving back!!  Thanks to local businesses, hospitals, and club foundations, the Ronald McDonald House of Charities plans to build a new house in Augusta for the families of sick children.  The current house located on Greene Street in Augusta Georgia,it  was built in the late 1800’s by a Doctor, and is only 5,583 square feet.  TheRonalds McDonald  house only sleeps ten families and is full almost every night with other families on waiting lists.  The currentRonals McDonald house also isn’t equipped to access childrenthat are wheel-chair bound.  These families have to stay in the Quality Inn on Walton Way or at The Partridge Inn.

The New Ronalds McDonald House will be built on land donated by Medical College of Georgia and consist of twenty to twenty-five bedrooms and will be wheel chair accessible, so we can take care of all of our families.  The Ronald McDonald House needs to raise five to six million dollars to build the new house.  Augusta McDonald owners have already pledged a total of one million dollars!

How does the Augusta Ronald McDonald house raise money?  December 1st, 2009, the Augusta, Georgia 4-H Club funded $8883.14 to the house.  The 4-H club was able to make this possible by collecting tabs from aluminum cans.  Other generous contributions made to the Ronald McDonald House are thru Cureg Coffee, Coke, and the wonerful folks in  Augusta community.  Coke –Col ahas  donatd all coke products and has since 1974.  Cureg donated a coffee machine and coffee for a year to the house.

Since 81% percent of the funding comes from the Augusta community in 2008, the Ronald McDonald House needs your help in making the new house possible.  Donations of all sorts are needed.  Especially breakfast foods, like pop tarts, yogurts,  and breakfast bars.  The house also needs household items, canned goods, dry goods, toilet paper, paper towels, toys, games, pillows, blankets, sheets, everything you buy for your house they need too!  You can make these donations or money donations to:

The Ronald McDonald House Charities of Augusta

                938 Greene Street,

Augusta, GA 30901.

One of my favorite thing that the Augusta Ronald McDonald House does is hosts a family game night every Tuesday, but they  only have three games: Life, Monopoly, and Sorry.  The Augusta Ronald McDonald  house is asking the Augusta community to donate games, they want more than anything a Bingo game so they can entertain the families and alleviate their minds a little as their ill children are being taken care of at the MCG Children’s Hospital.  The Augusta Ronald McDonald House is also looking for donations (of talented people, seeds and time)  toward making a small vegetable garden, so that they may keep their families fed in a more cost-efficient manner.

The Augusta Ronald McDonald House needs our help in taking care of and hopefully soon getting their new house up and running, so please be generous and help our Augusta community thrive. With your help we can continue making a difference.
