My youngest daughter is turning 8, and for her birthday she was allowed to get her ears pierced- a very big deal to a 2nd-grader. It's a rite of passage for girls, one of the many steps one takes to give the outward appearance of "growing up." I think that's what makes a first pair of earrings special, really- it's not the adornment aspect of it, although that's certainly important, too. Rather, it's a measurable. For my daughter, she can look at her ears now to see a visible sign of progress, of movement from one stage to another in her life. For me, it's a (thankfully) rather harmless and stress-free transition. As long as she keeps the posts clean and her ears don't get infected, I'm not too worried about it.
Most of us don't get some new and fancy tangible "bling" whenever we hit a milestone. For my next milestone birthday, I believe I'll have to get a prostate exam. I think I'd rather get earrings! As we mature, though, what we do get are rewards that are earned. They're no longer rites of passage, they're accomplishments. Milestones become raises and bonuses, awarded for hard work and success. We are remunerated for closed deals, for executed sales, for satisfied customers. Higher pay, professional acknowledgment and personal satisfaction are the measurables of the adult world. They certainly lack the innocence of a first pair of earrings, but they're no less special if we recognize them for what they are.
At Obbee, we're all about helping sales professionals with their measurables. We use internet-based technology and methodologies to provide real-time sales leads for the real estate, mortgage, insurance, debt settlement and loan modification fields. With our proprietary web-based techniques, we offer the freshest qualified prospects in the industry. And if you want to buy some bling after you close our leads, that's okay with us!
