Voyage to Vulcan - Spock Comes Home

Almost 20 years ago, when I was working for a TV station in Lethbridge Alberta, we took part in the greatest Television Promotional Event on the Planet!

Back then the station was called 2&7 Lethbridge, and together with our sister station 2&7 Calgary, we put on an event to promote our on-air programming of Star Trek: the Next Generation called Voyage to Vulcan.

During the show, fans would call in for a chance to win their seat on the Voyage to Vulcan.  When the contest was complete, 6 or 7 bus loads of Star Trek fans were launched from Lethbridge and Calgary on the fan Voyage of a lifetime.

Of course, everyone travelled in full Star Trek attire, and once they arrived, were treated to an intergalactic tour of the town of Vulcan, Alberta and a fantastic party with special guests from every known planet and alien species.

Well it's time to make the Trek once again to Vulcan, which is located South East of Calgary, not quite 2 hours by car.

Why?  Because Spock is beaming into Vulcan today!  Leonard Nimoy, star and fan favorite of the original Star Trek series will be visiting Vulcan this afternoon, for a private tour of the Vulcan Tourism and Trek Station

I'm not even a Trekkie in the true sense, but you have to admit... This is just TOO COOL!  This little town has been waiting years for this.   What a great adventure.  Click here for the details.

I'll return with Photos tomorrow.  Should be a very colourful event!

Live Long and Prosper.

Bernice, whle I'll admit that it sounds like a lot of fun, I would not admit that anything having to do with dressing up in Star Trek attire sounds cool
