With summer soon upon us, thoughts turn to the age-old
question, "What should we do for vacation?" Well, we have a lot of ideas about that topic. And that is why we began this blog series of Day Trips from Houston. These destinations are well within a day's round trip from Houston. So you don't have hotel expense or have to plan for a pet sitter - yet you can have something to crank up for the "What I did on My Summer Vacation" theme paper for the kids. And the adults get a change of scenery too.
Today's destination is Brenham Texas. And specifically the Blue Bell Creamery. Now for anyone from Texas, you know the reverence we have for Blue Bell Ice Cream. So many flavors. So many favorites. Coffee. Homemade Vanilla. Mocha Madness. Candy Jar. Cherry Cheesecake. Some flavors are seasonal. Some are year round. But they all have one thing in common - their yummyliciousness!
Tours of the Creamery are Monday thru Friday. They are at 10 AM, 11 AM, 1 PM, 1:30 PM, 2 PM & 2:30 PM. General admission is $5. Seniors 55+ and Children (6-14) are $3. The tours last 45 minutes and THEY INCLUDE A SERVING OF ICE CREAM! Slam dunk people. Blue Bell Ice Cream.
The Blue Bell Creamery is about a 2 hour drive. And well worth your time!
