One more killer software application I have been using...Foldershare

I have been writing a little the past week or so about applications I am using that makes my job as a real estate broker easier.

Here is one additional program I use.  www.foldershare.com   This was a private company, but Microsoft just bought it.  Only good thing that happened after Microsoft bought it is, it became free.  I was paying 60-70/year for it in the past.  Well worth the investment even when it cost to use.  I am just worried now what Microsoft plans to do with it now that it's free??  I guess time will tell.

So what does this free software do?  It allows me to sync everything I do on one pc with any other pc I have setup to sync with it.

For example:  I store everything I have elctronically, scan all documents in, do not have paper copies of anything.  As soon as I scan or save a fax into one of my client folders, it immediatley is copied to my laptop and my wife's laptop, my business partners home pc, my home pc, etc.  Then each of us can immediatley open it no matter where we are at.  I can also use a web browser to access any of my files, whether I have them setup for sharing or not.  The sharing all happens behind the scene, it is brilliant technology and works perfectly.  I have yet to have a problem with it.

Definately a must have for those people that prefer "virtual offices" over going to the office all the time.

Craig,

This sounds like a killer app.  Thanks for the tip.  This is something I have been looking for.  One question, how are all of these remote PC's networked?

All of my machines are wireless...  As long as the machine can get to the internet, they can connect and transfer data.

I can be at Panera Bread, receive a fax, drop it in the proper folder, and it's replicated out to all others.

It's also secure with at least 128 big encrption(I believe it may be 256 bit now), so it's just as secure as purchasing something online, etc.

FolderShare works great, just be careful how you name your files. . I normally store files in folders by client and property. I had FolderShare crash and all of my files ended up in a single folder. I had so many copies of CMA.xls. They added a 1, 2 , 3... onto the end to keep the file names unique. It took quite awhile to sort things out. I have now save with more descriptive file names (1234 Main St CMA.xls).
