I just LOVE this post...and "relate" to it in a couple of ways: I too grew up on the Jersey Shore, in Cape May, and know all about the joys of Flounder Fishing. Better yet, I know the joys of Flounder EATING - my mom (who still lives in CM) is a master cook of Flounder.

The Jersey Shore provides some of the finest and most varied fishing opportunities along the entire East Coast. While the precise timing varies a little from year to year, we should be gearing up for Flounder season!
First the Fishing: The Summer Flounder or Fluke as it's known throughout much of the Northeast is one of the mainstays of summer fishing. Arriving in late may, the fluke is a fine tasting predator that remains along the Jersey Shore, and in the Bays until early Fall. At the start of the season, this is primarily back bay fishing, but as the water temp increases going into summer, so does the areas that the flounder can be found, so by late Summer, flounder are mostly found in the ocean all along the Jersey Shore.
