Are you unemployed, underwater, behind in your mortgage and facing foreclosure?

Has poor credit kept you from getting a loan modification from HUD-sponsored programs?

Have you considered that you may be a victim of predatory lending practices?

Join the Homeowner Consumer Protection Foundation Panel Discussion from 7-9 PM on Thursday, July 22, at the Ruiz Library, located at 1600 Grove near East Riverside. Admission is free but reservations are a must - and may be made by calling 512.797.8458.

Homeowners Consumer Protection Foundation is a lifeline for a growing number of homeowners fighting foreclosure, predatory lenders and abusive loan servicers. Dedicated to helping homeowners understand their rights and defenses, as well as training attorneys in this new and complicated area of law, the three founding partners will present valuable information and answer questions about predatory lending practices involving first and second mortgages, home improvements, mobile homes and rent-to-own transactions.

Fernando Orozco is an entrepreneur, financier and former paralegal who pioneered the use of mortgage loan forensics in defending foreclosures. Kent M. Leediker is a 20 year practicing Austin attorney who, since the mortgage crisis hit, has been successfully helping homeowners defend their homes. Dian Darby is a 'poster child' for predatory lending who has overcome her challenges and wants to share her new-found wisdom with others. She has a Texas medical license and operates a community clinic in East Austin.

Homeowners Consumer Protection Foundation offers homeowners a free preliminary mortgage violation analysis, or PMVA, to determine if the loan is, in fact predatory. It is important to analyze the homeowner's complete closing package including a review of their TILA (Truth in Lending Act), (RESPA) Real Estate Settlement Procedures Act , Uniform Residential Loan Application, Closing Statement, Note and various other documents.

I'm very curious to know how successful this is in terms of attendance. I did a seminar that included attorneys, accountants, mortgage professionals, and Realtors and have lower attendance than I would have liked.
