Today was an absolutely stunning day to go to the lake. While many people headed up north to the lake place, heading back with hwy 10 under construction, basically a large log jam, just didn't seem like the appropriate thing to do when we have a very wonderful public lake within 10 minutes of the house. Besides we had to get today's post done for the wonderful reasons to love St Cloud and Warner Lake seemed like a really good idea, if I do say so myself.
Warner Lake is a 241 acre park located in Stearns County Minnesota. Warner Lake County Park was initially established in 1973 when the Campfire Girls donated 33 acres to Stearns County. The park is open year round from 6:00am to 11:00pm.
With over 300 feet of sandy bottom swimming beach Warner Lake is a nice place to go to enjoy the day. The park has 7 picnic areas with tables and grills. If you are having a larger function out at the park there are 2 covered picnic shelters, these are available on a first come basis. In addition there is one very large covered shelter complete with an enclosed kitchen area with electricity, seating for 100 comfortably and a large grilling area, this open air shelter must be reserved.
Warner Lake County Park is also home to Warner Lake Nature Center. The Nature Center is a full enclosed building that is also perfect for gatherings and will accommodate up to 120 guests. there are 20 six foot tables and chairs, a full kitchen and a separate parking area. There is a discount on the rental fee for non-profit organizations.
There is a ton of fun things to do out at Warner Lake. There is a fishing pier, a bike trail, lots of picnic tables and perminent grill stations, canoeing, swimming, volleyball, floating and of course sunbathing. Whenever we have gone to Warner Lake Park, I have noted that even though we are just over the hill from I-94, all you hear are the sounds of families and friends having a great time. And it's closer to the house than the office! Hmmm...
