Home Selling Tip: Don't Ignore The Honey Do List

By

Recently, I was *encouraged* to address a few items around the house that have been lingering. Being the real estate that I am, I didn't want to resemble the cobbler, whose kids have bad shoes.  I'm not sure, I've ever used a term as trite as the honey do list, but for the purposes of this post, I'll make an exception.

The thing about the aforementioned list, is that most of the requests are smart suggestions for maintaining ones home. Furthermore, the list address many of the items home sellers should consider before putting their home on the market. The big item on my list, was power washing the sidewalk and stone in front our home. The before and after was significant to say the least. Although I forgot to take pictures, I've included an example of what you can expect from a driveway power wash

This is an example of one of the top items that can really improve the appearance of a home. Power washing lasts up to two years. And the more you do it, the easier it will be the next time. Furthermore, it will really make a difference on home siding, and garage doors as well.

What are the other things that will make a difference, when it comes to the honey do list?

Painting- Shore up those walls that you have been meaning to. And don't let those ceilings go awry.

Flooring- Keep those carpets cleaned on a regular basis. The same goes for maintaining those hardwood floors.

Exterior- Keep that roof maintained as well possible. Leaks can run up bills in other areas of the home. Keep the fence in good repair. Plant those flowers. And caulk, caulk, caulk.

Scott,

Smart man!  I have a very handy husband, but my items don't always get priority.  To keep peace, I have my real estate handyman take care of things when my spouse is on his annual golf trip!  Everyone is happy now.

Good idea, not to put it off.  Keep the house in decent shape and enjoy it.

All the best, Michelle

Scott so true just like sellers and homeowners, realtors also have to spruce up!  Sounds like we have the same list going on, we have been painting, pressure wash is next, then gutters on the back of the house!

LOL  -  my husband wont be to happy with this post but I am!  But really, it's true - Curb Appeal is really what gets potential buyers to do a 2nd look at a house & investigate the neighborhood.  Power Washing, Painting, & a few colorful plants/flowers will have those potential buyers doing a double take wanting to buy this house a "beer" to learn more about it.

Samantha. I'm afraid I have a lot in common with your husband. But I have to say addressing the list really makes a difference.
