Ocean City, Maryland: Replacement of Route 50 Drawbridge
The Maryland Department of Transportation, State Highway Administration is in the planning phase of determining alternatives to the Route 50 Drawbridge, which brings people into Ocean City, Maryland.
There has been $2.5 million budgeted for the planning phase. The initial alternatives of consideration were as follows:
Alternative 1: No Build
Alternative 2: Rehabilitation
Alternative 3: One Way Pair
Alternative 4: 1st Street Connection
Alternative 5: South Parallel Bridge
Alternative 5a: North Parallel Bridge
Alternative 6: 9th Street Connection
Alternative 7: Remove & Replace
Based on public input and an evaluation of impacts (residential, environmental, & socio-economic) associated with each proposed alternative, SHA recommended the retention of the alternatives presented below, and the regulatory agencies concurred.

Alternative 4 Modified: 1st Street Connection
Alternative 5: South Parallel Bridge
Alternative 5a: North Parallel Bridge
Funding for future phase does not currently exist and the eventual construction may be 20 years away.
