As a broker/ owner of a real estate office I have some strange hats that I wear from time to time. Usually it is marketing coordinator, comptroller, motivator and visionary. Tomorrow I get to wear my baseball (actually softball) and bar-b-que chef hats all in one evening...it's my company's annual Summer Bar-B-Que.
In the past we have had pool parties, beach parties, yachting parties on Cape Cod, and previously we have had the softball (baseball with beer as I like to call it) bar-b-que parties...they have always been a hit with the kids and who knows a good party better than the kids?
I have always instructed my associates to run their own parties too (you know...networking). The better the party the more people will hear about them...word of mouth brings more people the next time...the next time your friend Joe or your past customer Maureen will bring his or her friend to your party I always told them who might be looking to sell their home and you would have a new customer for the cost of a hot dog...all the while you are having the time of your life as well...everyone likes a good party...and everyone likes to work with people that they enjoy partying with...so to speak.
So think about it...we really aren't in the real estate business. You know we are in the people business. Helping people sell homes, buy homes, rent apartments etc...and if you find a better way to meet new people and keep in touch with your old customers the better your business will be and the bigger it will grow.
So tomorrow while I'm pitching the softball or toasting some buns...pouring some beer...I'll be doing the same thing for my business...I'll be connecting with my associates, their families and a few friends (I'm sure a few new faces will show up to see what Weichert Realtors-Castles Unlimited is all about)...and I'll be growing my business...one hot dog at a time.
I hope the weather is as great as they predict...80 degrees and sunny! Wish you could come too.
