I have really tried diligently to fulfill my commitment to Karan Bernetti's 30 Day Challenge...and I am failing miserably. I have to confess that I am much more a binge blogger, than a consistent blogger. The problem is some days I have a brain, and some days I am more like the Scarecrow from the Wizard of Oz.
It would be much easier if I were a great photographer like William Johnson, but posting my feeble attempts at capturing life on film would pale in comparison to William's beautiful compositions. And, unlike Russel Ray, I don't have a Kool Kat like Zoey. I do have a couple wild bunnies who visit my yard, but I can't convince them to sit still for a photo op.
With the absence of a "support system" of cameras or animals I am left with only one resource for posting to my blog....My brain. But, try as I might, some days it just lets me down. Zip, nada, nuttin'.....
Then, suddenly a day will come when I am truly inspired...like Mozart the music flows and the prose pours like sweet wine into a crystal chalice. At those times, I bask in my mastery of the English language, my emotive powers and my expressive imagery......I have truly arrived at Enlightenment. Of course, I do share my birth day with the maestro...
Alas, the very next day I am singing "If I only had a brain"........
Deborah, I tend to mentally write my blog post when I am nowhere near my PC. So what tends to happen is that they never make it to my actual Activerain post. So, many of many of my blog topics are simply just enjoyed by me while I am thinking about them...
Jason
Ted, I guess practice makes perfect!!
Heather, Thanks a bunch! This one surprised me!
Jennifer, Oh, I always log on...I would miss to much! LOL! It the creative side of me that is sometimes late coming to the party!
Teral, Thank you very much!
Jason, So we shall never know the wisdom in your head???? So sad!! :-)
There are many of us out here that feel the same way. I like the advice of Jeff and keep a folder of blogging idea. There are many time I have an idea in the car, but by the time I get to it my brain has processed a million other things and I don't remember what it was.
I think Kristen Wheatley hit the nail on the head and is worth reconsidering
You just need to accept that your ideas will take flight, but you generate a bunch at once and than drip them out from draft mode every day, or every other day. This could be your first step to reforming.
and you can also just jot down the topic you come up with and than write about it when you have the time.
Myself I have a spreadsheet of 30 generalized blog topics (mostly market reports) so when I am drawing a blank I can go to that for inspiration. I would be happy to share, just ask
Simon, I too like Jeff's idea. And, Vickie's about doing a series of articles...both are great support tips!
Daniel, I will take your suggestion under consideration! The flow is happening again so I have several peculating today. Coming soon to a post near you!! Be watching for them~~
I find that I have to blog daily, or I get out of the habit. It can be a read hurtle to get going again.
On days where you are inspired to write more than one, save the second as a draft so you always have inventory in queue.
Deborah: I don't think I'd be getting too panicked as of yet if I were you. You seem to be doing pretty darn well! But, I totally understand the problem you're talking about. Our brains are kinda like drains Deborah. Most the time we just flow ... other times ... well, you get the drift ...
Gene
I actually went over two years posting EVERY single day... missing not more than a dozen days in the that time. I am being easier on myself now, but post somwhere almost every day. It actually helps my writing to post every day... and force material out.
But, failing that, write as many posts as you can when you are "on" and then dribble them out when you aren't. I know a few bloggers than have 5-25 posts 'in queue' for when they need them.
Deborah, with 13 Featured Posts in under 6 months, you've got a great knack for blogging! If Draft Mode doesn't work for you, then put them on a Word Document or Email them to yourself and have a special 'blog' folder. Then you can pull out one for a day when your brain doesn't want to cooperate. I like Draft Mode but if you don't use it right away, the post kind of gets lost mixed in with all the other posts. That's why either Word or an email would work better for me. I totally get the inspiration part and wanting to post it right away, it's hard to save it! :)
That is when you start writing your inspirations down as soon as you think of them. Then write like crazy in draft form and then release them daily. I think that I do the same thing. I sit down on Mondays and brainstorm....Good luck to you!
So far, everything I have seen has been great, binge posting or not binge posting. The best thing is not to put pressure on yourself and just write when you feel like it. Also, your fail safe is to write some keyword rich niche posts. There is always something to say about the financial market.
Deborah, this was so clever and you even incorporated by favorite movie. I love your prose.
Erica, Great advice...appreciate the generous spirit of seasoned AR's like yourself!
Jim, I think you may be right!
Diane, It was hard to admit my "failure", but I am comfortable holding myself and my short comings up for my sharing.
J. Philip, I am beginning to realize that I need not post everything hot off the press...not a notion I had considered.Gene, LOL..sometimes I am drifting more than usual..............
Lane. wisdom of experience. Thank you!
Frank and Sharon, Thanks so much...my perfection mode is still in over drive....(I have alway battled the "implement now, prefect later" syndrome).....I wnat to provide knowledge, market, analysis to help everyone..............I know, silly. I appreciate your support. Much.
Karen, Thanks for the great advice. And, I have been meaning to tell you that I love your picture. Classey and individual.....it does not get better.
Jane, Thank you for the support...I love your posts! I really need to get better on the SEO portion of this thing....LOL!
Tammie, Thank you, lady!
I freely admit. I am a binge blogger! And for the exact same reason as you. Some days I'm inspired and some days it's just not there. Good luck to you and all of us binge bloggers!
