Early this morning, I selected which of my three Saint's shirts I would wear to watch tonight's game before reading the paper!
After reading Jim Beam's article in this morning's American Press, "NFL Fans Getting Rare Treat with Season Opener", I'm even more "pumped up" about the game.
No doubt, this is an event best enjoyed at the Super Dome. For me, the next best thing is to watch it with my fellow crazed lunatic football fans in my Margaret Place Neighborhood.
As a special treat, we will watch the game on an outside, large screen home theater. While not the dome, I can assure you that when Drew Brees gives the signal for the "Who Dat" chant to begin, we will enthusiastically follow our quaterback's direction.
I have a feeling that tonight's event will be comparable to the 2006 Monday Night opening game against Atlanta. Like many others, I was brought to tears by the electricity that flowed through the dome that post-Katrina evening. The lasting impression of that game (and others) was mentioned in Beam's article. He quoted an article in USA today, "The Louisiana Superdome practically shook Monday night as a sold-out crowd thundered its appreciation for the homecoming of the New Orleans Saints."
Lucky Jim Beam will be in New Orleans for tonight's game. He'll have plenty of fodder to write about. In the meantime, relish this moment from the last time these two teams met...
