Lake Charles Supports the Saints!

Early this morning, I selected which of my three Saint's shirts I would wear to watch tonight's game before reading the paper!

After reading Jim Beam's article in this morning's American MKH's Facebook ImagePress, "NFL Fans Getting Rare Treat with Season Opener", I'm even more "pumped up" about the game.

No doubt, this is an event best enjoyed at the Super Dome. For me, the next best thing is to watch it with my fellow crazed lunatic football fans in my Margaret Place Neighborhood.

As a special treat, we will watch the game on an outside, large screen home theater.   While not the dome, I can assure you that when Drew Brees gives the signal for the "Who Dat" chant to begin, we will enthusiastically follow our quaterback's direction.

I have a feeling that tonight's event will be comparable to the 2006 Monday Night opening game against Atlanta.  Like many others, I was brought to tears by the electricity that flowed through the dome that post-Katrina evening. The lasting impression of that game (and others) was mentioned in Beam's article.  He quoted an article in USA today, "The Louisiana Superdome practically shook Monday night as a sold-out crowd thundered its appreciation for the homecoming of the New Orleans Saints.
"

Lucky Jim Beam will be in New Orleans for tonight's game.   He'll have plenty of fodder to write about. In the meantime, relish this moment from the last time these two teams met...

YES GO SAINTS!!!! I live outside Houston and many of us here are rooting for the Saints. Drew Brees is the best player in the whole league and I do not like the Vikings...

Robert, it is always great to hear about out-of-state fans.  I so agree with you about Drew Brees. He is truly a class act.  Hope you enjoy the game.

Well, I have to admit to being a Cowboys fan. Now, before you start gagging, I've been a fan since the Tom Landry (never been a coach as classy!) days and I just keep hoping they will turn it around. That having been said, I'm rooting for the Saints tonight, they've proven to be well worth the praise and accolades, so how could I not? Have a GREAT time tonight!

Having just returned from New Orleans over Labor Day I can tell you that the city is electric with excitement and anticipation!  Seeing the big stage for myself and all the crews setting up you get the picture of exactly HOW BIG this KICKOFF is!  Watching the Today Show this morning live from New Orleans in front of Jackson Square where the big stage is set up I felt like I was right back where I left off last weekend!  True DAT.  Although I did not purchase the Saints hooker shoes I posted yesterday, I did come back home with a new Saints hat :)  Let the games begin

Mary Kay - I have enough excitement about football to make up for party pooper Jane #7. I'll be watching the game too, I'm so happy that the beginning of football season is finally here!

Tish, I'm with you re Tom Landry.  I felt that Landry was to professional football, as Bud Wilkinson was to college football (I'm a native of Oklahoma). And, thanks, we will have a great time. Sidebar: SAINTS VS cowboys..we finally have something to disagree about....! :)  Can't wait for the SAINTS to kick your Cowboys out of the stadium.... :)

I know what you mean about the excitement in New Orleans, Marilyn.  I was fortunate enough to have a St. Charles and Canal balcony view of the homecoming parade after the super-bowl.  The atmosphere, crowd enthusiasm, and the pure joy a city that has been through so much gave me a forever-memory.  I doubt I'll ever get that close to Drew Brees, Sean Payton, and crew again.

Jane, soccer?

Cynthia!  You are hereby granted membership in the Margaret Place Division of the Who Dat Nation! When Jane hears about the partying that goes along with this membership, she may reconsider.

Carl and Ceil, i couldn't get to New Orleans for the game, but we had a great time last night with the Saint's game being the first event shown on my neighbor's outdoor big-screen TV. Much fun.

John, wasn't as exciting as the last Viking/Saints game, but it is nice to be 1 for 1 in the "W" column!

Diane, it was fun.  They're talking movies as well!

Your group must have been extremely excited with the big win.

That game had the highest rating for a regular season prime time game in the past 12 years.

Val, we were quite pleased with the win.  As you are probably aware, this isn't the first time the Saints have had this sort of rating.  As I recall, the Super Bowl surpassed the final episode of Mash which had previously held the record. GEAUX SAINTS!
