Have a Better Chance of Selling Your Home

By

A family room with animal heads mounted all over the room...Realtors see all kinds of decorating (or lack thereof) when showing homes or talking to owners about selling.  Some schemes appeal to me and some do not based on my sense of style.  So how do you make your home appealing to the general public?

Home stagers are professionals who can look at your home and make suggestions to make it attractive to more people.  As homeowners, we are so invested in the things we have achieved over the time we have owned our homes, we have difficulty seeing it through buyers' eyes.

Home stagers can do as much or as little as you want.  From consulting with you so you can make your own changes, providing new furniture and accessories, to many steps in between.  In today's market with so much inventory of homes available, staging could provide the boost you need.  Home stagers can quote you their statistics of how much faster homes sell with staging.

Over the years, it has been observed that many people cannot see beyond what you have...even to the point of paint color.  Many sellers feel buyers should be able to look past the furnishings and wall color to see the home.  Many cannot.  Even if your home is vacant, that does not help.  Then buyers have trouble visualizing how it would look with furniture.

Ask your agent for a home staging referral today.

I tell my sellers since you are moving anyway go ahead and pack up some of your "prize" items, like the stuffed duck hanging on the wall.  And a nice fresh coat of a neutral paint would go a very long way.  Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't.  I have a great listing on the river that would benefit 100% with a nice coat of paint.  But my seller said most people paint when they buy a house anyway so they can do it.  All the feedback we get on this listing is needs too much work.  And the seller still doesn't get it.

I have had clients walk into a house that has a lot of stuff in it and turn around and walk out and say no, I can't see past the stuff.

People hire a roofer to put a roof on because they are the experts and do a better job in a lot less time.  People hire a web designer to build their business websites because they are the experts and the same people hire a Realtor so they tell them how to sell their house????

Aren't we lucky!
