Don't be his first.

How many inspections has your inspector performed in his career?  Let's do the math.  You want an inspector with at least 5 years full time experience under his belt.   A full time inspector should be performing between 250-400 inspections a year.  Don't be his first...be his 1500th.  If he is doing any less that 250 a year he is probably not full time.  If he is doing any more than 400 per year, the number is either a fabrication or the inspections are being rushed.  Don't take the inspector's word for it. Ask for verification. If they can't produce it, move on.

Make sure your inspector is thorough.  Does he just "look over" things or does he fully inspect all systems and components.  The best way to determine this is in the report.  Is everything detailed for each item? Is it written in a way you can understand it?  Remember, it's not about the inspector, it's about you.
