Meeting People via Social Network....Proper Protocol

By
Real Estate Agent with Keller Williams Realty Boise Idaho SP20114

I was just looking at some of the blogs of many I have met here on Active Rain as well as the number of Realtors I have met on Facebook.....

One thing I don't always know how to go about is how do I acknowledge the friendship.....I was curious what those of you active here do....

If you get a new subscriber to your blog or some one who comments on one of your postings....do you send them an email or even give them a call?

I have received both...yet I don't do either....should I be doing that?

I receive many web newsletters from agents I have met throughout the years traveling to National  conventions....Through Keller Williams Realty and WCR...

I wouldn't want any one to think I am not grateful for the comments or for subscribing to my blog....so I will pose the question to you....what is the proper protocol??    or is there one?   LOL

And for the record....I do appreciate the comments, friendships and subscribers I have met here on Active Rain!   I have learned such valuable and cutting edge information from my time singing in the rain!

I think one of the best thank you's you can do for someone who subscribes to you, is to do it in turn.  I've noticed that someone I've not 'met' before will comment on a blog. I do my best to click through to theirs (time permitting) and make a comment of my own.  If they subscribe to me, I do the same with them.  To me, that's the start of a great reciprocal relationship.

Deborah I'm not quite sure myself and I'm curious about the web etiquettecomments too. I always exchange comments online. If and when I do meet them in person I definitely acknowledge the online acquaintance.

Everyone is different and has different rules for what is acceptable to them. I just go with the flow and decide to call some, email some and others do nothing.  I don't think there are any hard fast rules.

Karen....I try to do the same as well...but like you said....time permitting...I do find that I will click and at least read the blogs of those who leave me comments regularly!

Mike...i like to comment to the comments as much as possible as well!   It will be interesting to read what others think!

Mary....Interesting....so far I have never called anyone...although some I can tell I would click with....as you get to feel as if you know them already!    LOL   I am probably more comfortable than most with Online Friendships as I met my hubby through a friend I had known for about 5-7 years on a different online forum!    LOL  you never know where friendships will lead!

Deborah, Reciprocation is always nice. If someone comments on your post – go to their blog and comment on one of their posts. The same goes for Associates and Subscriptions. If you feel compelled to send an email or call … do so! It’s about what feels right for you.
