Over the last few days there has been criticism on how CREA rolled over for the Competition Bureau and the following dispatch from CREA should allay a few fears and get the story straight.
This matter has been ongoing for two plus years now and besides posturing, and who can pee the farthest ,from both sides, lets hope the process that is planned will be democratic and we REALTORS will determine our fate.

Ty, I agree. I believe all Canadian REALTORS®, should they wish to, ought to be allowed to engage in the discussion with their elected association/ board representatives about their association/ board vote on October 24th.

Realtors are sleeping on this issue huge !! I can only hope our Boards and Crea make the best decision in our interests. This issue is scary we built a system up so well with disclosure, agency, education and now every one wants in. Yet you can sell private, higher a fsbo company, higher a discount realtor or pay the full Service. Yet other industrys enjoy no competition from crown corporations. I feel "they" the government tells us what to eat , they sell cigarettes behind the screen but have no problem collecting the tax. Double Standard Absolutely.

I am glad I offer value and provide a great service I feel I can compete with anything.
But this issue will not go away that is for sure. I hope the agreement is a logical solution.
I for one am willing to choose a different path in a heartbeat because its clear our governments have too much control.
Carl, the best thing as an indvidual is that when it comes time to vote and decide on this issue, you be there at your local board meeting. That stands for all of us.

Ty, I still don't understand how the government can dictate who can use a website owned by a group. If CREA was blocking others from setting up their own listings website then I would call that a monopoly problem but ...
I think your industry can flex and grow from these changes. If I have this right, you will sell a seller space on the MLS and offer different packages of services. Won't this allow you to compete better with the FSBO companies and the discounters out there?
I can see this trickling down to Stagers. If a Seller chooses a small package, the Realtor is less likely to send in a Stager for a consult.
Janice, a very good point and one that has been discussed at CREA and over the next few months we may see some pretty good changes.
If Ayn Rand was alive and could re-write 'Atlas Shrugged' she would have added this farce in her book.

Ty ..........AYn Rand the media describes her as a wacko !! I have read Atlas Shrugged, Fountain Head, and every book and play she has ever wrote. Dont agree with everything but most of her stuff is honest.

Thanks for posting this, time for us agents to read exactly what has been agreed to and vote accordingly. Remember, times are a changing! Don't fear it, figure out how to make it work for us.
