This post will push me over the 100,000 points mark here on Active Rain...and I learned something really cool today, thanks to Lisa Udy, so I thought I would make this milestone post something that everyone could learn and benefit from too!
I have been spending the better part of my day studying stats on various sites, both my clients' as well as my own...I decided to check and see who was linking back to my real estate virtual assistant website, so I went to Yahoo.com (supposedly Yahoo shows more backlinks than Google does) and typed in the following:
link:www.eRealtyAssistance.com
(replace eRealtyAssistance with your own domain name)
What came up wasn't terribly surprising for the most part, I knew most of the sites that I had somehow gotten links from, many were of my own doing...but there were several links...all coming from Active Rain...that caught my eye. I clicked on them, thinking that they were posts that I had commented on...but no, they were not. They were links all coming from Lisa Udy's blog posts that had gotten indexed by Google. Why were they creating backlinks to my site? Because Lisa is awesome and created added me under her Links are on the sidebar of her blog!!! Not only did she add me, but she used Keyword Text for the link. I sent her a personal message through Active Rain as soon as I saw what she had done...but I thought, gee...why had I never thought of doing that for my clients or for people who had helped me out here in the Rain?
I wanted to share this with all of my fellow AR'ers so that you can give back to those who have given to you in one way or another...backlinks, inbound links, whatever you wish to call them...are the gift that keeps on giving! So far all I had done was use those links to go out to my own sites and social media profiles...until tonight that is. Check out my bottom link...this one's for you, Lisa Udy!
