Best Time To Update Your Technology?

The holidays are coming and that means there are sales from clothing to cell phones to computers that can be purchase for yourself or as gifts. Computer or laptop feeling slow? Need more space to store your files, music and movies? Then it might be a great time to do some shopping, but don't just shop any day.

The best day to get extremely low prices or even free items is on "Black Friday". That is the day right after Thanksgiving, which is the first day of the holiday shopping season for most retailers. Many electronic retailers like Best Buys and Fry's Electronics opens their doors around 5am. Don't expect to come at 4am and be even close to the front. There are many people that started waiting since Thanksgiving day, some even bring tents and rotate with friends and family members to wait in line.

If you don't mind waiting a few hours in the cold weather, racing inside the store to grab the few items left on sale, and waiting in a long line to check out to save some money, then it might be worthwhile. The last two years found that many companies like Amazon, Walmart, Fry's and Best Buy would have specials on the early hours on their websites.

There are great deals but don't just buy because they are on sale otherwise we would join the long line of folks returning items the day after Black Friday because we were in such a big rush we didn't stop to think if we really need the item or not.

Song - Last year I updated my old monitor with a nice 22" lcd flat screen. I got a really great deal on it on black Friday. I still have not seen any prices on this monitor as low as it was the day I purchased it.

Kathy: It seem every year that retailers are moving their sales early. A Yahoo article mentioned that some retailers are starting their sale weeks in advance of Black Friday. http://shopping.yahoo.com/articles/yshoppingarticles/451/pre-halloween-sales-at-black-friday-prices. Might save you waiting in line.

Sidney: Notebooks are usually the biggest attraction on these sales sometimes in the tune of over $400 in savings. Problem is that there are usually less than 10 and hundreds standing in line for them.

Dan: I have been doing some shopping recently for computer upgrades. Now would be a great time.

Robert: I agree. If we don't make the move, we might regret it at a later date.
