I have heard that people are saying they are not voting for the bond because it increases their taxes. I SAY “REALLY ARE YOU KIDDING ME?” It is such a small increase here is the breakdown:
If the proposal passes the tax impact on the residences of KATY ISD will be a $.01 increase next September 2011 and then an additional $.03 increase in September 2012. This represents ONLY a $10 per year increase for every $100,000 in taxable value to Katy ISD homeowners.
Please do not use “I do not have kids in school and I am paying for school taxes that I do not receive a benefit from.” Again, I SAY REALLY ARE YOU KIDDING ME?
The taxes are what is keeping your property values up. The schools are anchoring us and keeping our values stable; while the rest of the country has gone down the tubes. It is the reason people keep moving here to Katy. If we continue to have overcrowding in the schools, our schools will deteriorate and then so will the value of our homes. I am practicing what I preach. My youngest son will be off to college by the time the impact of the bond reaches the schools. Think of the revenue the new schools will bring to Katy. I think we all can think of many ways to say $10-$100 in a year with out taxing the brain too much!
So please do not forget to vote on November 2nd FOR the 2010 Bond Referendum.
For additional information please go to the Katy ISD Website at www.katyisd.org
Please do not forget to vote as we need these bonds to pass to keep Katy ISD a top rated school district.
The Bond will be voted on as part of the general election on Tuesday November 2, 2010.
The Katy ISD Bond Election will be near the end of the ballot.
