A Day in the Life of A Realtor

By
Real Estate Agent with Better Homes and Gardens Rand Realty

One of the benefis of being a Realtor is that one day is definitely not the same as the next. It is very hard to get bored as often happens with many 9-5 jobs. I was just thinking about my day yesterday. Raining heavily in the morning got both children off to school. Left the house by 8:45AM to drive 20 minutes to show a house where the clients wanted to walk the property. (got out rainboots and umbrella). Couldn't find my raincoat, still can't. It must be with all those missing socks.

Back to one of my listings where insulation was falling out of the basement ceiling. Spent some time poking it back in with a mop handle, while avoiding the dogs that the owners had forgotten to put in their crates. Back out in the rain to drive to the closing with the  still not completely resolved OIL TANK which is unusual for my area. Much back and forth with the attorneys...mini-conferences behind closed doors and...

money left in escrow, keys turned over, back to the office to deposit check. Just another day, but a good one!

I love being a realtor!!  I think of all the interesting people I get to meet and all the experiences that change from day to day.  Sometimes it presents challenges but overall it's rewarding to have the sense of helping people in a very important decision in their lives.

Nancy,  Any day that involves a closing and a check being deposited strikes me a s a Great day!  Very true that it is seldom boring.  Have a Great Weekend!

I have a seperate set of small shelves with the "north, south, west" written on them. In my location parked on the Canadian border we don't go east, not licensed in New Brunswick Canada. And usually Saturday afternoon, when showing a lake place, land, farm or home in one of those directions, pull out and attached to the clipboard the lower priority missions that one by one get written off the list. At the end of Saturday with digital and video camera full, and showings, listings, signs up or down...it feels like I save so much time that I gained a day or two in those 35 to 50 miles out of the office in our rural area of Maine. You can make more time by using it more wisely.
