For those that know me, they know that I LOVE the beach. In fact, I just celebrated my (ahem..cough cough) 50th on the beach in Fire Island, NY. I spent many a summer day covered in oil..(ya know..the one for that St.Tropez tan) at Robert Moses or Smiths Point beaches on Long Island where I was lucky to be raised.
When my Mother moved to St. Thomas and opened a store, I was introduced to a new world. I spent a year on the island living and working (many moons ago..ok..early 80's) and since honeymooning there 27 years ago, we have gone back every year (sometimes more) ever since.
When I want to get away and relax it's St. Thomas and St. John for me. It's a place I know fairly well, so don't have to think about anything really but where we will be going to dinner that night. One of the great things about going so much is you get to know some of the local business people and restaurant owners.
St. John has some of the most beautiful beaches. One of my favorites is Cinnamon Bay. It was a bit overcast this day...but man the water was fine.
Another one of St. Johns' beaches that we love is Trunk Bay. This beach usually gets the most tourists due to the snorkling, but still I never feel crowed.
We have stayed at lots of places, but our favorite so far is the Frenchman's Reef Morning Star Hotel. The rooms are really close to the beach. I love the beach in the mornings! The bottom pic is from my hotel balcony.Man, I could sure use a good Virgin Islands vacation right about now. The beaches are calling me!!
