Don’t Wait Until Spring to Sell Your Home

The holidays are upon us once again. The first snow is on the ground, the smell of cinnamon apple cider and the sound of holiday cheer is all around. Some of the things you planned on doing this year may have gone by wayside too – like putting your house on the market.

Northern California Realtor® Erik Kloth says he advises his clients to take action now rather than wait until spring.

“Maybe you are thinking you should wait until spring. Well, that might not be the best thing to do, and here are 10 great reasons why you should sell your home during the holiday season.

1. 90 percent of home buyers begin their home shopping online. Less people are out driving around looking at neighborhoods.

2. People who look for a home during the holidays seem to be serious buyers. If they are out there looking now, it means they are looking to buy.

2. Buyers have fewer houses to choose from during the holiday months and less competition, which means more potential for your home to be viewed and more money for you.

3. Since the supply of new listings dramatically increase in January, there will be less demand for your particular home. Less demand means less money for you.

4. Some people must buy before the end of the year for t

ax purposes.

5. Buyers may be more emotional during the holidays, so they are more likely to pay closer to your price.

6. Houses feel and show better when decorated for the holiday.

7. In areas where there are winter activities to be had, such as ski parks, visitors may be interested in looking at a second home or a good deal to set up as a vacation rental.

8. You can still be on the market, but you have the option to restrict showing during the six or seven days of the holidays.

9. You can sell now for more money and we will provide for a delayed closing or extended occupancy until early next year.

10. By selling now, you may have a opportunity to be a non-contingent buyer during the spring when many more houses are on the market for less money! This will allow you to sell high and buy low!”
