Pay it Forward - Nov 30

I'm not sure if this really counts as a pay it forward.

Over the Thanksgiving holiday, I spoke to my sister.  My nephew, young guy, 21 years old, though he's already doing more than I was in my late 20's.  He simply got to be an adult faster than I, maybe that's life in the early 21st century.  He's in the restauraunt industry and was feeling quite alone and lonely.  Completely across the country, on his own.

I've called in the past, and I don't usually get a phone call back.  That's fine.  The purpose of my calls is always to say "hey, I'm here, and I've not forgotten you".

Having spoken to my sister, she was only able to listen, which is great for a Mom, right?  So, I sat down on Sunday night and wrote a quick 2 page letter.  Not too much preaching (I hope), just reminding him....we know you're there, life gets better, you'll find the girl of your dreams, but in the meantime, enjoy life.

Maybe it brings a smile to him, which is perfect.

Hey  that was pretty special you did that.  I am sure he will give it a listen.  And that he was just in a funk the day he said he was lonely.  I know he has everything but I would send him something like a memory basket of  pictures of past events and current family and some keep sakes.  Perhaps that would pick him up a bit.

That is totally a pay it forward, I never got communication skills till my late 20's maybe later.  What you did will be a voice in his ear and it will make a difference.
