The New Carlsbad High School is Under Construction for the Carlsbad Unified School District in Carlsbad CA

New Carlsbad High School is under construction

New Carlsbad High School is under constructionThe new Carlsbad Senior High School is now beginning construction and is estimated to open in the Fall of 2013 (the original project was 2012 as I say in the video but I have learned otherwise).

The new Carlsbad High School is located at the junction of College and Cannon, next to the new residential community of The Foothills in Carlsbad and down the hill from the planned community of Calavera Hills.

The high school, the newest in the Carlsbad Unified School District, is being built adjacent to preserved open space, which caused a bit of controversy and multiple delays and a few lawsuits.

The new school is within sight and close proximity to Mt. Calavera (check out my post A Hike Up Mt. Calavera).

The new Carlsbad High School will house approximately 1500 students and will feature a new stadium, state of the art technology, fine arts center, and gymnasium. There will be on-site environmental learning opportunities as well.

Check out the video and the photos of the action. Lots of work to be done - they are still clearing and preparing the ground.

Jeff, you are on a tear lately; all of your local post are always good! The value of schools is often overlooked but here in Austin, I work in the Eanes School District and the schools are one of the primary reasons valuse stay so high!

Jeff ~  It's encouraging to see a new school being built as it portends growth.  There's no question you are always fully informed of the happenings in your area and would be my number one go-to Agent.

Sounds like good progress....I hope they do a better job than our last school......our last school was too small for the student body the day they broke ground.  By time it was finished it was way too small.  Bad planning to say the least.

Hi Jeff, I can't think of a more suitable environment for a school than on this beautiful site. I can imagine some of the natural sights and sounds that could only inspire learning and appreciating nature and the beautiful topography this state is blessed with. ( and also maybe inspire a photography class or two) :-)

Jeff we just built a new High School two years ago.  The price tag was $105,000,000.  What is the price tag on this one.

New schools can be exciting for an area, generally lots of community building as you get close to opening the school and the months to follow.
