Charlotte Economic News: More Energy Jobs Announced by Toshiba
Charlotte NC: Charlotte is in the news once again this week as the “New Energy Capital” of the world, already a national hub for the energy industry!
Toshiba will increase its presence in Charlotte as well as having recently announced its participation in the 2,700-megawatt South Texas project, partnering with The Shaw Group.
Toshiba America Nuclear Energy will add 25 to 40 new jobs in their Charlotte office over the next several months, says Duncan Kane, director of Toshiba's Charlotte human resources.
These 25 to 40 new Toshiba jobs will all be directly related to the South Texas project, Kane says. More jobs are expected beyond the initial hirings as well. “Longer term, (Toshiba) will hire additional staff both here in Charlotte and at the (South Texas) site as needed to support the project.”
Since 2009, major energy industry expansions and relocations have been announced by several companies such as Siemens Energy, Areva, Babcock & Wilcox, SPX and ABB Group (to Huntersville), adding many new jobs to the Charlotte Metro area.
