Whether you have come here for rest, play, creative respite, family time or just to linger at the edge of emerald green waters you will find what you have come for. Massive solid wood front doors open to the main living space and kitchen area and your eyes head straight for emerald green gulf waters. You must step outside first thing; the gulf waters are clear today and they beckon from every window. You wander the vast shaded decks and dip your toes into the gulf side pool which is cooler than you would have expected. Something smells luscious in the kitchen and your hunger draws you back inside after you pause for one last moment alone with the gentle waves. There is a large crowd this evening. The two dining tables are set as is the bar area. The stone floors are refreshing on your bare feet as you head for the kitchen island where warm cheese biscuits have just been pulled from the oven. You bite into the first and reach for a second but decide against and turn to help with the preparing of food in the immense kitchen. Someone is already manning the ice maker and both dishwashers. Beverages are being poured from the subzero and something smells sumptuous in the oven. Your help is not needed and you wander just over to the living room where ten have gathered for the football game on the big screen. You duck into the powder room which causes you to linger with curiosity at the glass tiles’ multi-colored glimmer. You hear laughter from the card room and peak in where a competitive round of chess is in full force. You are drawn into the wine room where the Chianti collection takes you back to Tuscany just for a moment. Someone calls out “dinner” and you volunteer to summon the children from the movie theatre where you find them sprawled on leather sofas enchanted by Harry Potter. You silence the movie to their complaint and they run to be the first to catch the elevator down. You select a Harry Connick CD and set the volume low throughout the house. You dim lights and light candles on your way back down. Dinner is long and yummy and you linger over wine and conversation. No one wants the evening to end and you all roam out to the deck and to the evening’s last gulf breezes. Sleep beckons after a while and people drift quietly up the stairs to one of the seven bedrooms. You find yours last and are grateful for the gulf view and private balcony where you know the sun will awaken you with its shimmer above the gentle waters. “If I were asked to name the chief benefit of the home, I should say: the home shelters day-dreaming, the home protects the dreamer, the home allows one to dream in peace.”
