The Memory Banks Of Our Children

"Each day we make deposits

into the memory banks of our children."

Charles R. Swindoll, American Writer

As I see it. . . . . . . .

The memory banks of our children

As our children grow up they pack away their childhood memories and carry them throughout their life's journey.

A child's memories are played forward into their adult life. Many of their childhood memories will be replayed in their relationships and in the way they live their lives as an adult.

The child that has their self-esteem nurtured will have self-esteem as an adult and play it forward to their children.

A child that was nurtured and felt loved as a child with will create nurturing and loving relationships as an adult.

Conversely a child that was abused or treated poorly will treat their children and the people around them in the same manner.

A child is a lot like clay and their parents and grandparents can mold that child through the examples that are set for them and in the memories that are created for them.

Children at a very early age have a sense of reason and understanding and from the time they're born we should be creating positive memories and influences for our children.

The memory banks of our children will be relived through out their lives. Full the memory bank of the child with positive reinforcement and a confident can do attitude and our children will live a life of richness.

Thanks for the reminder about how powerful our words and actions are in the eyes of our children.  I still have many tapes playing in my head from my childhood that are both good and bad.

Lou, hopefully we, as parents, will always make large daily deposits in our children's memory banks.  Nothing is as special as fabulous childhood memories.

Your comments are timely as my son arrived for a holiday visit. Enjoy the holiday season but reserve time to prepare for the year ahead and great success!

Great quote. It helps keep things in perspective. Sometimes it seems like I might never get through a day with the kids. Then I blink and a year has gone by.

Beautiful, I have always felt that a newborn was like a brand new composition book (we had them in grammar school) the pages were white and pristine.  No one had written on them.  I always wished that what was written was good and accurate.  No misspelled words, no erasing.  Nothing but good.
