The Village Council of Pinehurst approved a $75,000 measure to build two all weather show rings at the Pinehurst Harness track for horse shows. As reported in the local new paper The Pilot.
The funds will be available in the 2012 Pinehurst Village budget as it was the number one recommendation by the Parks and Recreation committee. It is expected to increase the economic viability of the Pinehurst Harness Track.
Currently the track is used for several activities. Mainly it is intended for Harness Race Training in the winter months. Many come down to the Sandhills in the winter from colder regions for equestrian events including Harness Training. There are also other events held here at the Pinehurst Harness Track such as eventing and dressage shows.
A calendar of equestrian events was posted in a previous blog and you can click here to see the schedule for January.
Stay tuned for future posts of other Pinehurst area equestrian and horse events as I intend on providing monthly posts with that information.
