With apologies to Beyonce . . .
if you want to stamp out hunger stick a fork in it,
if you want to stamp out hunger stick a fork in it,
oh, oh, oh, oh-oh-a-oh,

Hunger has been with us for a long time, and unfortunately may always be with us to some extent. It also comes as no surprise that organizations whose mission it is to help end hunger are themselves dealing with limited resources.
In Chicago, the non-profit Greater Chicago Food Depository uses a network of 650 pantries, soup kitchens and shelters to distribute food to over 675,000 adults and children each year. The 86 Hunger Dinner Series, an ongoing series of private dinners at some of Chicago's most renowned restaurants, is dedicated to supporting the Greater Chicago Food Depository's mission to "end hunger in our community."
After a December hiatus, the dinner series resumes next Tuesday, January 11 from 6 to 10 pm. Host chef Carrie Nahabedian, of NAHA, will be joined by guest chefs Sarah Stegner and George Bumbaris from Prairie Grass Cafe. Together they will prepare a meal created exclusively for 86 Hunger patrons. Tickets are $150 per person and seating is limited. This is an opportunity to enjoy a special culinary experience while supporting the community at large.
