When I'm dealing with animal lovers out there, I always mention to them that I would be willing to donate a portion of my commission to the animal foundation of their choice. They seem to be amazed at this generous offer and it has opened up some doors that would have otherwise been closed. I follow through with this offer if that is what my clients would like me to do. I feel good about doing it and my clients feel good about having done a good deed.
I know in this market, it's even more difficult to even consider something like this being offered. But, when you are an animal lover as I am, it's a small price to pay to see that an animal's welfare is tended to. It makes me feel better about myself and it is actually offering my client's yet another benefit for having worked with me.
With all the foreclosures and short sales we have going on today, there are many animals that have been forgotten or left behind due to family situations. The animals are the ones that suffer and I just hate to even think about that end of our business. I even took a cat home with me a little over a year ago that I had heard moaning frantically for anyone to help him. It was pitiful! I got him home and he actually at four bowl-fuls of food. He was starving and no one really knows how long he had been left out in the cold, bitter, freezing, and at the time, raining and snowing combined elements. It broke my heart!
I took him home and nursed him back to health and, within a month, this guy had a new forever home. In fact it was one day less than an entire month. He was wonderful to have around and I was so glad that he went to a good home. This is the kind of thing we need to be made more aware of. We're the ones that are out there from morning til night and we need to not turn our backs on these animals that are in need of assistance.
So, in my travels in real estate, I have found that I may not be able to find all the animals in need of assistance, but I can offer anyone working with me a donation that I will gladly make to the animal foundations of their choice, once the transaction closes. It has worked for me and has generated not only additional business but also wonderful, long-lasting relationships with fellow animal lovers. Just a suggestion but I strongly recommend that you consider this. You may not donate a lot of money but you may find someone out there that would like to tak you up on it.
