Snow In Alabama
For those of you who think that it doesn't snow in Alabama...think again. Before I moved here my thoughts of Alabama were; it's hot and there are a lot of cotton fields. Well yes there are a lot of cotton fields and it does get hot here. This last summer saw many consecutive days in the nineties, but the average annual temperature is 64 F. Alabama can actually have a wide variance in climate with the northern area occasionally receiving snowfall and the gulf is subject to hurricanes. Alabama's annual rainfall is 56 inches.
Okay this was not meant to be Alabama's weather almanac, just wanted show everyone that it does snow here. Depending on what part of Huntsville or Madison Alabama you were in...the snowfall averaged around 8". After I shoveled my drive...probably the only clean drive (and the only snow shovel) in the entire subdivision...I'm sure all my southern neighbors were thinking I was nuts as the snow would probably melt in a couple of days, but I can't help it...too many years living in the north...kind of like Pavlov's dog's...it snows...I shovel. Anyway, below are just a few shots of the neighborhood before it got dark.
