Chicago's mayoral race began with a field of twenty candidates, including the tenant living in Rahm Emanuel's home, boxing and battling for position. In round one, after a few right-hooks to the resume and quick cuts attacking character, the field was quickly whittled down to four candidates, Rahm Emanuel, Carol Mosely Braun, Gery Chico and Miguel Del Valle.
In round two, two rulings responded to challenges to the residential eligibility of front runner Rahm Emanuel. One before the Cook County Board of Elections and the other before a Cook County judge, went in favor of Emanuel.
Today was round three. In a sudden change of events, an appellate court ruled that Emanuel has not fulfilled the residency requirement to run for mayor of Chicago. Is Rahm on the ropes? We'll see. The bell you hear waking you up in the morning will not be your alarm. It will be the bell announcing the beginning of round four as Rahm Emanuel seeks to appeal today's ruling.
Stay tuned.
