Chairs Coffee, a great cup of coffee, a cool place to sit down...

I arrived with the intent of snapping a few pictures, grabbing a Latte' to go, and staying no more than five minutes at the hot new Spokane Coffee House Chairs but liked it so much I stayed way longer...

Looking towards the West just off Division and Indiana

My first impression was like, wow, it really is open! Because the day before the tables still hadn't been brought in, the walls not painted, and it looked like Chairs wouldn't make it's first day grand opening, but with the work of many, including some volunteers, it did open on time Feb. 1st bright and early...

At the counter the conversations started with Deberah from the coffee vendor (Roast House) who joined me in conversation about the value and merits of sustainable naturally grown coffee beans.  We decided I would tour the coffee roasting facilities near by soon for the blog, and my own curiosity.  I Will say, it's darn fine tasting coffee, in fact the best latte' I have ever had.  Mitch (pictured here) is one of the owners here and I bet super excited with the huge turn out so far...not even noon and already sold out of Red Velvet and Turkey!  No problem because Chris just arrived with more...

Ordering up a Late' from Mitch

Mitch was quick to point out that the receipt of today's purchase would show up as a text on my mobile...what a novel concept!  I like....Vanilla Latte please...single 16oz to go ( I should have got it to stay )...

items offered in display at Chairs Coffee

The case was completely stocked full earlier of course, this is still mid morning!

Chairs is in the former location of Coffee Social, but everyone agrees that the ambiance is much improved.  The vision set forward by the two twenty something owners is to provide a "Cool place for people to hang".  Chris, the other owner, says that the idea came about only a few months ago after wanting a really great place for meeting space for Equality Spokane.  Seeing the need for one, and a desire for a "place for community" and good news source, the two changed the need into a dream and then reality, and in less than three months!

one of the owners of Chairs Coffee

I asked the other co-owner about his thoughts relative to the planning stages of the new business.  I said, Mitch, your in your younger 20's; obviously you had an amazing visualization in your mind of what you wanted to do to bring into being this amazing place for coffee, so how did you get over your doubts?  He immediately replied that he had "never been the type to limit himself". Chris said part of his reasoning behind opening Chairs was "nobody else is going to do it, so we might as well ourselves".

another shot of the coffee shop

...so there's my empty ta'go cup on the table there.  I ended up talking with several different people there, and like so many cool coffee shops, there's always some "gab" to be had there - so much fun I ended up staying more than an hour!...I really do like this place, and think it's awesome that Chris and Mitch decided to open this place up.  There's obviously  some inspiration in their story, because with all good ideas, if the idea is snuffed out by internal limitations it would never come into being.  I feel like they have a great place, a great vision for it, excellent product and over all, everything it will take to succeed!
