Great news, trails in Union Plaza reopened Friday in the Antelope Valley.   Valley Authority contractors finished an inspection of the bridges along the route and have decided to reopen the trails.  The hiking area ranges from N street to Q.  The hiking area was closed early January after some cracks in some of the concrete were found. 

City officials said a short-term maintenance has been done and the bridegs are safe for bikes and runners. The city will continue to keep an eye on the bridges for signs of ware and started an inquiry as to why the bridges are showing premature wear in the first place.

Here is one for the birds; the mayor of Lancaster has purposed piping bird songs from loudspeakers along the newly renovated Lancaster blvd.  Okay bird songs might be fun but taxes going for bird songs?
