Dunedin, Florida - Home of The Fenway Hotel

It recently came to my attention that there is a local movement to Save Dunedin's Historic Fenway Hotel, located on beautiful and historic Edgewater Drive in Dunedin, Florida.  I can remember from my earliest childhood the drive down Edgewater, the uniquely 'Florida' look of the tall King palms which still line the drive, even after losing a few in the hurricanes which ravaged our coast a few years back.Edgewater Drive

One of the most memorable structures still standing along this lovely drive is the Fenway Hotel--built in the 1920's, and opened to the public in an historic first-time broadcast by WGHB (now WFLA, still in service today).

The Fenway has every right and reason to be preserved, just as it's infamous predecessors the Belleview Biltmorein Belleair, the Vinoy near downtown St. Petersburg, and the beautiful Don Cesar Resort on St. Pete Beach

I love Dunedin and Clearwater. I love your energetic and nostalgic connection to the area. My family and I are looking to purchase a second home at some point. I will definitely maintain contact with you so we can connect next time we're down in FL.

Hey, Michael!  That is terrific, because I love it up there, too!  When I first came to Florida I so missed the older architecture of the Northeast, but as you can see--I've found my niche!

Dunedin is one of my favorite areas of Pinellas County! The hotel was a school for a long time - when did that change???

Very recently, Barbara Jo--it was Florida International, but I'll bet you (like me) even remember when it was the Seminary!

Actually, the name of the school that was located in the old Fenway Hotel was Schiller International University.  Schiller was there until August 2006 when it moved to Largo, FL.  The school located there before Schiller was Trinity College.  Dr. Billy Graham graduated from Trinity, but not while it was at that campus, although he visited and spoke at the Dunedin campus.
