IKEA stores are first major retailer that has stopped offering the incandescent bulbs and sell compact fluorescent lamp (CFL's) exclusively.  They are setting the stage for more solar products, energy efficient products and new earth friendly products to buy.

IKEA now offers Solar-powered outdoor lighting fixtures, plus indoor table, floor and lighting tubes.   Not only are these super chic and will look great in your modern or traditional home, but pretty darn innovative!

They are selling spring garden lights shaped like bunnies and flamingos along with other super cute lawn products that are solar powered.

Great solar products starting at 7.99?  Wow, thanks IKEA!

IKEA is a great green company and totally ahead of the trend.  They are a Swedish company so they do focus on energy savings more aggressively than most other countries.

David, here is the scoop on the new laws - The Energy Independence and Security Act of 2007  legislation require that all stores begin to phase out incandescent bulbs over the next few years.  100-watt incandescent bulbs will be banned starting January 1, 2012, 75-watt bulbs will be banned in 2013, then 60-watt and 40-watt bulbs will be banned 2014.
