An open letter to my fellow New Hanover County NC agents.
Dear Comrades in Arms,
Are you sick and tired of battling to find buyers and sellers? Weary from all the direct mail pieces you must cart to the post office each month? Fed up with hoping and praying someone will find your website? Feel like you've been painted into a corner with your marketing? Know you need to make some changes but don't know where to start?
I know how you feel. I've been there. And I'd like to share a little bit of my hard-earned knowledge.
You need to dance in The 'Rain, my friends! Splash in a puddle, wear your galoshes and just get soaked! Step into ActiveRain and get your blogging on -- it's a great way to meet fellow agents from across the country. It's like attending a seminar on almost any subject you can think of -- you pick the subject -- without paying all those heavy admission prices, driving to a destination (have you seen the price of gas?), finding a parking place and then sitting and sitting and sitting in an uncomfortable chair, only to have them hawk their latest and greatest books and tapes, etc.
What will you blog about? Whatever is important to you! If it matters to you, chances are good, it matters to someone else and they want to hear what you have to say. Don't let a fear of finding subject matter stop you -- write about local events, area charities, favorite restaurants -- you get the idea. Give people a chance to get to know YOU and how you work. You can't do that with an ad in the paper!
You say you want to build your referral business -- I can't think of a better way to increase your business and your sphere of influence from the convenience of your own laptop. Try it out, step in and splash around -- I think you'll be shocked by the fun you'll have taking your business to the next level! ActiveRain will give you a chance to dip your toes in the waters of blogging and find your voice, so you can grow your business, your way.
In any event, I'm here if you want to learn more about dancing in The 'Rain -- just give me a call, if you'd like to know more. Better yet, poke around and read some of the fantastic posts -- I promise you won't be disappointed and who knows, you might just find this is what you've been looking for to take you to the next level.
P.S. In case you're wondering, this isn't about points for me, it's about doing what most of us here in The 'Rain do -- share good advice to help us all thrive in the current market.
