I've been out of the AR dialog since the 18th of Novemeber. So I check in this morning only to find an email comment from "Ms. Jane C. Wetego of West Africa". Being somewhat versed in internet scams I nearly fell over. This is one of the oldest on line come ons from one of the worlds KNOWN scam capitals. So I thought I would just post a brief advisory to the community. If you EVER receive an email from Western Africa, Nigeria, Canada, Neitherlands or England advising you that you have won, or are elgible to receive a a large or significant sum of money. All you need to do is to send them your name, Address, your bank's name, your account, routing numbers, you are best advised to hit the trash button. Do not respond in anyway for any reason. The FBI international Fraud Unit along with Interpol and other national law enforcement agencies are cognizant of these scams and have successfully set up counter stings. But everytime they catch one group another pops up. You see these crooks play on two human weaknesses; Greed and Ignorance. A dangerous combination which all too frequently get even the sharpest tack in the pack in trouble. So just a word... be careful and don't get caught.....

Unfortunately I don't think there is a way of putting a stop to this crap, it just comes up in anther form.
What does shock me is how people keep falling for the SAME thing, over and over.........................

Yeah they ocassionally hit us. It's hard to prevent because they are sending the contacts by email as opposed to a bot. We have some checks in place that are usually able to cut them off after they have sent a couple of these emails

Because of our internet exposure, we get about 10-20 a day. We have seen so many of these that we can spot them very quickly anymore.

a highly caffeinated creative type...
I think the real question is... is anyone really surprise by this? I usually waste 20+ minutes per day just filtering out spam from my mailbox. Fun times...

This make s me think of an old "I Love Lucy" show" where she wants to promote Ricky's band by posing as a princess.
Didn't work then either.
