Yesterday I participated in holding open house at the multi-million dollar Estates at Trump National in Rancho Palos Verdes. The three homes currently available range from $4,400,000 to $12,000,000. Some pretty lofty prices, but the location and views are phenomenal, plus the luxury homes are filled with high-end amenities that not only meet but exceed the luxury home buyer's expectations.

I personally escorted ten groups through the homes--not a bad turn out for a chilly Sunday Southern California afternoon. Here's the interesting part--most of the prospective buyers (and a few perennial lookers) were stunned when I shared this good news with them:

4 Luxury homes sold during the past 14 months in the Palos VerdesDrive South neighborhood of Rancho Palos Verdes

20 Nuvola Court: $2,070,000

2980 Twin Harbors View: $3,200,000 (Estates at Trump National sale)

6580 Sea Cove Drive: $3,440,000

2970 Twin Harbors View $4,200,000 (Estates at Trump National sale)

Most of the people I spoke with yesterday were completely unaware luxury homes are selling in this economy. It's up to us, to inform the public. Let's take it to the streets and share every smidgen of good real estate news. Information is power and I'm all for empowering the public.

Art - My point is the market is not as stagnant as most consumers believe--they need the positive information to counter-balance the overall negativity that is reported. I'm sure there is good news in your market--make sure your customers and clients know about it and more business will come your way.

Roger - I like your optimistic point of view.

Brenda - I didn't sell a house yesterday but I did "sell" the fact homes are selling and the market is moving. Dispelling consumer's preconceived ideas and sharing the actual facts for their neighborhood is the idea--ten groups (approximately 30 people) walked away from the open house with new hyper-local knowledge of the Palos Verdes Drive South neighborhood.

Norma: This and your prior post hit home with me ... as I'm always saying things are being portrayed as way too negative. It wears you down ... and if people always hear and see negative ... that's how they will respond. I don't think your message of spreading good news is Pollyanish at all. It's SO very refreshing! And needed ...
